coffee pods

Why Use Pods? :.

There are good AND bad points to coffee pods. Here I'll try to cover the major benefits and issues:

Benefits

Less mess: - well less mess in same ways. There's less mess than manual machines using pre-ground coffee as the coffee doesn't spill onto the bench. There's more mess than fully automatic machines because you still have to remove the coffee pod and throw it away with the packaging. More importantly your staff will lean up as they go.

Reliability: Once you remove the grinder, doser and brew unit from a coffee machine then you're left with a lot less moving parts. Less moving parts means less service calls. The machines are also a bit cheaper.

Ease of use: Insert pod, press button. Much easier than a manual machine, not quite as easy as a fully automatic.

Consistency: Every pod is the same size, dose and grind - and will tast the same for each cup.

Issues

Waste: Each pod is foil wrapped and then inside a further package looking like a teabag. If you're environmentally sensitive you might want to consider a fully automatic machine.

Cost per cup: By the time you grind and wrap each pod it gets more expensive per cup. Typically twice to three times the cost of using raw beans.

Overview - The ideal pod office

Do you have 3 to 20 employees?
Are you reluctant to pay the extra amount for a large, fully automatic coffee machine?
Are you struggling to find an employee prepared to take resposibility for cleaning a coffee machine?
Do you have trouble getting a service technician to visit you promptly?

If this sound like you then a pod machine could be the answer.
